MONTGOMERY, Ill. (STMW) – A 9-year-old boy died Sunday after rescue divers pulled him from a west suburban Montgomery lake after spending about 30 minutes looking for the child, officials said.

Rescue divers responded to the report of a missing 9-year-old boy last seen in the water at Jericho Lake about 6 p.m., the release said.

The boy was found about 25 feet from the shore submerged in 12 feet of water, according to a press release from the Sugar Grove Fire Protection District.

The boy was taken to Provena Mercy Medical Center in Aurora, where he was pronounced dead, officials said.

The identity of the boy was not released as of Monday morning.
