Man Charged In Hit-And-Run Of 4-Year-Old Girl

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Bond was set at $200,000 Monday for a South Side man accused in a hit-and-run crash that left a 4-year-old girl critically injured Saturday afternoon.

Andre Howard, 22, of the 400 block of West 72nd Street, was charged with felony failure to report an accident with injuries, driving without insurance and misdemeanor DUI, police said.

On Monday, Howard was ordered held on $200,000 bond, according to the Cook County Sheriff's website. He will next appear in court June 1.

Howard is accused of driving a vehicle that struck a 4-year-old girl about 4:40 p.m. Saturday in the 7100 block of South Normal Avenue, police said.

Paramedics took the girl in critical condition to University of Chicago Comer's Children's Hospital, police said.
