Libertyville Police Search For Man Who Maced Walgreens Employee

LIBERTYVILLE, Ill. (STMW) - Police are searching for a man who sprayed a Libertyville Walgreens employee in the face with mace when she caught him stealing boxes of Allegra.

At 11 p.m. on Wednesday, the employee saw the man put the Allegra boxes in his jacket while standing in the antihistamine aisle of the Walgreens located in the 1400 block of South Milwaukee Avenue, Libertyville Police said in a statement issued Friday.

The man approached the employee, grabbed her by her arm and sprayed her in the face with mace, the release said.

He then ran out of the store and drove off in a tan or light brown four-door vehicle with Illinois license plates, the release said, adding that a witness told police the registration plate on the vehicle started with the letter A and contained the numbers two and seven.

Police said the man is black and wore black denim jacket, pants with light-colored bands at the bottom and a black baseball cap with an "arched word on the front."

The employee who was maced was taken to Condell Health Network in Libertyville, where she was treated and released, police said.
