WEST CHICAGO, Ill. (CBS) — As many as 15 construction vehicles were destroyed in a fire early Monday in West Chicago.

As CBS 2’s David Morrison reports, a total of 12 to 15 construction vehicles that were staged for the ongoing North Avenue construction project were destroyed in the fire.

While the fire was out by 6:15 a.m. Monday, traffic was barely moving on North Avenue. The road was down to a single lane in each direction just west of Route 59.

Eastbound traffic was severely backed up near the scene.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
