Jordan Danks Called Up As Fukudome Heads To DL

(CBS) Jordan Danks, the younger brother of left-hander John Danks, will join the White Sox Thursday.

The White Sox purchased Danks' contract from Triple-A Charlotte and placed outfielder Kosuke Fukudome on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right oblique.

The younger Danks is enjoying a resurgent season at Triple-A Charlotte. After hitting .245 in 2010 and .257 in 2011, the outfielder is batting .302 with eight home runs and 28 RBIs so far this season. The 25-year-old is known for his great outfield defense, but currently ranks fourth in the International League in on-base percentage (.419) and is seventh in OPS (.934). He has yet to play in a major league game.

Fukudome's move to the disabled list is retroactive to June 4.

The White Sox will host the Toronto Blue Jays Thursday evening at 7:10 p.m.
