Boy, 4, Dies After Being Pulled From Glenview Pool

GLENVIEW, Ill. (CBS) – A 4-year-old boy died Friday after being pulled from a north suburban swimming pool, authorities said.

The victim was found unresponsive in the Glenview Park District's Roosevelt Pool, 2239 Fir St., at about 2:30 p.m. Witness Kelly Nicioli said lifeguards tried for several minutes to revive the child before paramedics arrived.

"It was disturbing, sickening, to see this happening to a little kid," said Nicioli, 14, who was having a birthday party at the pool.

Published reports said the boy was taken to Glenbrook Hospital. He was pronounced dead at 3:49 p.m., CBS 2's Mike Puccinelli reports.

The victim may have been attending a summer camp program at the time of the afternoon accident, Nicioli said.

The medical examiner's office on Friday evening said it had been notified of the death but could not provide further information. Police would not identify the boy.
