Chicago NOT Ranked Among Ten Most Dangerous Cities

CHICAGO (CBS) — Mob attacks, dozens of shootings and several fatalities–all in one weekend in Chicago.

Recent reports said more people have been killed in Chicago this year than soldiers in Afghanistan.

Based on all of that, one might conclude that Chicago would rank as one of the most dangerous cities in the United States.

Not quite.

Based on the FBI’s Uniform Crime Report, 24/7 Wall St. identified the 10 U.S. cities with populations of 100,000 or more with the highest rates of violent crime per 1,000 residents.

Chicago isn’t in the top 10, according to their analysis:

1) Flint, Mich.
2) Detroit, Mich
3) St. Louis, Mo.
4) Oakland, Calif
5) Memphis, Tenn.
6) Little Rock, Ark.
7) Birmingham, Ala.
8) Atlanta, Ga.
9) Baltimore, Md.
10) Stockton, Calif
