(CBS) Highly touted prospect Anthony Rizzo is getting the call to the Cubs.
Randy Peterson of the Des Moines Register tweeted Monday that Rizzo had been pulled from the Iowa Cubs’ matinee after two at-bats and the minor league affiliate made the announcement.
The Chicago Cubs have yet to confirm the move.
Rizzo batted .345 with 23 home runs and 62 RBI in 69 games with the Iowa Cubs. He was in a bit of a slump before getting the call, however, and was hitless in his last nine at-bats.
The first baseman is expected to make his Cubs debut Tuesday night against the Mets instead of having to face Johan Santana Monday night.
