Red Sox Release Bobby Jenks

(WSCR) After one and a half seasons in Boston, the Red Sox have released former White Sox closer Bobby Jenks.

The 31-year-old Jenks had spent the entire 2012 season on the 60-day disabled list while recovering from back surgery. He appeared in just 19 games last season with Boston after signing a two-year contract with the team in December of 2010.

Last season, Jenks went 2-2 with a 6.32 earned run average and 17 strikeouts.

In 348 career appearances with the White Sox (2005-10) and Boston, Jenks has posted a 3.53 ERA with 173 saves
