DCFS Probes Death Of Joliet Boy Who Drowned In Family's Pool

JOLIET, Ill. (STMW) -- The state Department of Children and Family Services is investigating the death of a 1-year-old boy who drowned Friday night at his family's backyard pool in Joliet.

Police were called to the home in the 300 block of Margaret Street at 8:43 p.m., according to a Joliet police sergeant.

The boy, Kaimyn Voight, was taken to Proven St. Joseph Hospital in Joliet, where he was pronounced dead at 9:26 p.m., according to the Will County Coroner's office. The boy drowned in his family's backyard pool, according to the coroner's office and police. An autopsy Saturday found the cause of death was drowning, though the manner of his death would be determined at a later date.

DCFS is investigating the boy's death, according to agency spokesman Kendall Marlowe. Three other children in the family are now in the care of relatives, Marlowe said, adding that DCFS has had no prior investigations involving this family.

Police believe nothing suspicious or criminal was involved in the boy's death, the sergeant said.
