First-Round Pick Almora Signs With Cubs For $3.9 Million
(CBS) The Cubs and first-round draft pick Albert Almora have agreed to terms on a contract that includes a $3.9 million bonus, according to multiple reports.
There is still some small language to be worked out, according to the Tribune, but Almora retweeted a number congratulatory tweets on his Twitter account Monday, all but confirming the signing.
As the No. 6 overall pick, Almora was slotted at $3.25 million. According to Baseball America, which first reported the deal, the Cubs will face a $280,350 tax because they went $373,800 over their allotted bonus total.
