Youkilis Named AL Player Of The Week

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Third baseman Kevin Youkilis' stellar performance during the recent White Sox homestand earned him honors as the American League Player of the week.

Youkilis hit .478 with three homers, 10 RBI and seven runs scored during the team's 5-1 homestand against the Rangers and Blue Jays.

Youkilis led the AL during the week in slugging at .913, tied for the lead in RBI, and was second in average, total bases (21) and on-base percentage (.571).

He hit safely and drove in at least one run in each game, including the game-winning RBI in all three games of the sweep of Texas, and Saturday's game against Toronto.

Youkilis has provided a big boost to the White Sox offense since he was traded from the Red Sox on June 24. He is batting .347 with three home runs and 14 RBI in his 13 games with Chicago.
