CHICAGO (CBS) — Five people were in police custody Thursday morning after a police pursuit that ended in the West Side’s South Austin neighborhood.
Police fired shots during the pursuit of the sport-utility vehicle, but no one was injured.
Officers attempted to pull over the SUV after they saw a man with a gun inside around 3:25 a.m. Thursday, police said. But the vehicle sped off.
Officers chased the vehicle in their squad car, and police fired shots at the SUV at one point during the chase.
The chase ended at Lake Street and Cicero Avenue, when the SUV got a flat tire, police said. The five suspects attempted to run off, but police caught them all.
Charges were pending against the suspects as of later Thursday morning, police said. A weapon was recovered.
