None Hurt When Boat In Lake Michigan Catches Fire

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Emergency crews rescued a group of boaters after their vessel caught fire in Lake Michigan early Sunday.

The boat in the lake off Burnham Harbor when a fire started about 1 a.m., police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.

Chicago Fire Department crews responded and doused the flames, and no one aboard was hurt, Greer said. Police Marine Unit crews also responded, and the boat was being escorted back to shore.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
