(CBS) Joe Paterno’s statue outside Beaver Stadium will be removed this weekend, according to two reports.

Kim Jones from the NFL Network and WFAN in New York and veteran sports reporter Bonnie Bernstein are reporting that the statue will come down this weekend.

The Penn State Board of Trustees has since denied that they voted to remove the statue.

Since the Freeh Report was released July 12, Paterno’s statue has been a hot-button issue. Calls for it to be removed have come from all over the country. A plane flew over the State College area for three straight days with the message: “Take the statue down or we will.”

Some PSU students responded by guarding the statue at night.
