Divorce Expo Coming To Naperville Next Month

NAPERVILLE, Ill. (CBS) -- Wedding expos are a huge industry as couples try to make for the perfect day to remember for a lifetime, but in Naperville next month, an expo specially geared toward marriages that don't work out is coming.

As WBBM Newsradio's Dave Marsett reports, the Daily Herald says about three dozen professionals will be manning booths and giving presentations at Divorce Expo 2012, set for Saturday, Aug. 18, at the Hotel Arista in Naperville.

Organizers say they want to help people find the resources to get through a divorce, given that the couples often jump full steam ahead into divorce proceedings without planning anything out properly, the Daily Herald reports.

Those attending the Divorce Expo will find info on finances and insurance to dealing with depression, and even figuring out which relatives will get to attend the youngest child's graduation from high school, the newspaper reports.

The Divorce Expo was spurred by Joost A. Allard, who got divorced after 21 years of marriage without knowing what they were doing in the process, the Daily Herald reports. To make sure other couples didn't make the same mistake, Allard, of the Detroit area, and his current partner, Christine McQueen, founded Split Partners, a divorce consulting firm that created the Divorce Expo as a concept, the newspaper reports.

Early bird tickets for the expo are $75 per person or $129 per couple.
