Motorist Killed In Crash Near Woodfield Mall
SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (STMW) -- A motorist was killed when an SUV crashed into a semi truck Tuesday afternoon near Woodfield Mall in northwest suburban Schaumburg.
The victim was driving a small SUV north on I-290/Illinois Route 53 when it crashed into the back of a semi at 3:07 p.m. just south of Higgins Road, Illinois State Police Elgin District Master Sgt. Bob Huber said.
The driver of the SUV was killed in the crash, he said. The driver of the semi was not injured.
State Police remained on the scene Tuesday afternoon, and only the left lane and left shoulder were open to traffic at the start of the afternoon rush.
