Bank Manager Charged With Stealing From 80-Year-Old Man

ST. CHARLES, Ill. (CBS) -- A suburban bank manager is accused of stealing more than $20,000 from the accounts of an elderly man.

WBBM Newsradio's Steve Miller reports, whenever the 80-year-old man went into the MB Financial Bank branch in St. Charles, he asked for the same person to help him: 55-year-old Lynn Pranga, the manager.

St. Charles Police spokesman Paul McCurtain said the customer spent a lot of time in Florida - and when he came back several months ago, he noticed something odd about his bank accounts. Namely -- money was missing.

"It looks like right now there's just over $21,000 missing from his three accounts," McCurtain said.

Pranga has been arrested and charged with, among other things, financial exploitation of the elderly, police said.

Pranga has been active in the community, including work as a literacy volunteer.

She's free on bond.

Pranga referred questions to her attorney, but said, "They're false allegations and I'm fighting them."

Speaking of the 80-year-old man, Pranga said, "This is somebody I've known for over 10 years. I'm shocked."
