CHICAGO (STMW) – At least 12 people have been wounded in shootings in the city — mainly in the South, West and Near West sides — since Friday. The shooting victims, one of whom was critically wounded, have all been male, between 14 and 49 years old.

The shootings included:

A 19-year-old man who was shot while sitting on the front porch of a home in the 7200 block of South Artesian Avenue at 1:21 a.m. Saturday. He was taken in good condition to Holy Cross Hospital with a graze wound to the head and the legs. Last Monday night, two people, including a 13-year-old boy, were wounded in a shooting on that same block.

A 20-year-old man who was shot while he was in a car on the way to a party in the Lower West Side early Saturday. The victim was a backseat passenger in a car in the 2300 block of West 21st Street about 1:41 a.m., according to police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak. The car was stopped at a stop sign in that area when some unknown males threw a bottle at the car, striking it, Kubiak said. When the car pulled away from the intersection someone opened fire on the car, striking the victim in the arm, Kubiak said.

He was driven to St. Mary’s Hospital where he was listed in good condition.

A 26-year-old man who was shot multiple times throughout the head and body while he was “tagging” a garage early Saturday in the West Side South Lawndale neighborhood.

The shooting occurred at 3:35 a.m. in the 2800 block of West 22nd Place, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.

The man was tagging a garage at that location when someone shot him, Kubiak said. The victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the head and body and was taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital.

The shooting victim, who lives not far from where he was shot, has gang affiliations and a criminal record, a source said.

A 21-year-old man who was shot on an Austin neighborhood street early Sunday. The victim was with a group of people in the 1300 block of North Mayfield Avenue at 1:53 a.m. when the shooter approached and opened fire, police said. He was shot several times in the back and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he is listed in “stable” condition, according to police.

A 14-year-old boy who was shot in the legs about 7:27 a.m. Sunday in the 4500 block of South Wood Street. He was in stable condition at Comer Children’s Hospital.
