(WSCR) Swiss soccer player Michel Morganella has been expelled from the Olympics for a threatening and racist message on Twitter about South Koreans.
Morganella tweeted: “Je les tous Defonce Coréens, allez vous tous Bruler, bande de trisos.” Roughly translated, “I will smash all the Koreans, go burn all of you, bunch of retards.”
The tweets came hours after Switzerland fell to South Korea.
According to Swiss Olympic team chief Gian Gilli, Morganella’s comments “discriminated against, insulted and violated the dignity of the South Korea football team as well as the South Korean people.”
“I apologize sincerely to the people of South Korea, to the players, but equally to the Swiss delegation and Swiss football in general,” Morganella said in a statement.
It’s clear that I’m accepting the consequences.”
