Man Charged With Trying To Trick Naperville Police Into Driving Him Home

NAPERVILLE, Ill. (CBS) -- An Aurora man is facing charges, after he allegedly tried to trick Naperville police into giving him a ride home from work.

As WBBM Newsradio's Dave Berner reports, Anthony Reyes, 21, called police around 2:20 a.m. June 12, and told them he needed help, according to the Naperville Sun.

When police arrived at North Aurora Road and Fairway Drive and found Reyes, he said he had been robbed at knifepoint. Police started to investigate, using the K-9 unit, the Naperville Sun reports.

But something didn't seem right, and after interviews, police determined Reyes had made the whole thing up so that police could come and give him a ride home, the newspaper reported.

Reyes lives 5 miles from his place of employment and had no car. He is facing charges of filing a false police report and disorderly conduct, the Naperville Sun reported.
