CHICAGO (STMW) - About 169,000 ComEd customers are without power Saturday after strong thunderstorms passed through the Chicago area.

ComEd spokeswoman Meg Swaney said 169,000 customers are currently without power with the hardest hit area being the southern region with 83,000 customers in the dark.

About 29,000 are without power in the Chicago area, 17,000 in the northern region and 40,000 in the western region.

There is no estimated time that power will be restored but crews are on the scene, Swaney said.
