CHICAGO (STMW) — A man tried to abduct a child from a store in the Southwest Side Marquette Park neighborhood last week and now police are warning parents to be on the alert.

The attempted kidnapping occurred about noon Aug. 11 at a store in the 3300 block of West 63rd Street, according to an alert from Area Central detectives.

The man approached the juvenile inside the store and attempted to pull the child outside, according to police.

The suspect is described as a white Hispanic man 40-49, 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-10 and 160-170 pounds with a medium complexion. He was wearing a gray baseball cap, gray T-shirt and blue jeans.
