Sunny, Cool And Idyllic For Rest Of The Day

CHICAGO (CBS) -- It's a perfect day for being outside, with a gentle breeze, moderate temperatures and sunshine.

CBS 2 Meteorologist Ed Curran says that trend will continue for the rest of the day.

As of 11:20 a.m., it was 69 degrees at O'Hare International Airport, 70 at Midway Airport, and 68 at Waukegan, with northwest winds of about 10 mph and only fair-weather cumulus clouds in the sky.

The northwest winds are creating some hazards for residents of Northwest Indiana and Southwest Michigan. There is a moderate risk of rip currents along the shores of Lake Michigan in those areas, and caution is advised for beachgoers.

Sunshine and cooler temperatures will prevail through the day, as high pressure moves in and takes control while the front that brought rain on Thursday moves out and takes the remaining clouds with it.

The official high for the day is 74.Overnight, the low drops to 54, with starry skies.

On Saturday, the high climbs to 77, with light winds – perfect conditions for standing on the beach during the Air and Water Show. When the kickoff comes around for the Bears preseason game at Soldier Field at 7 p.m., the temperature will be 70 degrees, with mostly clear and cool conditions and a northeast wind at 3 mph.

The high for Sunday is 75, Monday 78, Tuesday 81, Wednesday 82 and Thursday 84.
