Man Found Dead In Van On South Side

CHICAGO (STMW) – Detectives have launched a homicide investigation after police found a man dead from a gunshot wound to the head Saturday afternoon in the Hamilton Park neighborhood on the South Side, police said.

A person called police about 11:51 a.m. to complain about a suspicious van that had been parked in a lot in the 7400 block of South Peoria Street for five days, said police News Affairs Officer Daniel O’Brien.

When police opened up the van, they discovered the body of a man, O’Brien said.

He was identified as 36-year-old Anthony Carter, of the 4900 block of West Lexington Street, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds,

No arrests have been made as Area South detectives continue to investigate.
