CHICAGO (CBS) -- A Will County man is being held in Wisconsin, pending charges that he killed his girlfriend while they were in Door County, attending a wedding.

The 35-year-old man, whom police did not identify, was arrested in Sister Bay, after police found the body of his 21-year-old girlfriend at a resort about 35 miles away. He allegedly called police around noon on Sunday to confess to the murder.

The couple had been together at a wedding in Egg Harbor on Saturday.

The victim has been identified as Alisha Bromfield, of Plainfield. Her body was found at the Sand Bay Beach Resort near Sturgeon Bay.

The suspect told officials where she could be found.

The man is in the Door County jail pending charges. He's expected to appear in court Tuesday afternoon to face charges.

The Door County Sheriff's office said it's the first murder in Door County in more than a decade.
