Car Chase Ends In Shooting In Park Manor Neighborhood

CHICAGO (STMW) – A car being chased and shot at crashed near a school in the Park Manor neighborhood on the South Side on Wednesday afternoon.
One person was shot and another injured about 2:45 p.m. in the 7200 block of South State Street, according to police.
A witness said a white BMW was being chased and shot at by another car. The BMW then crashed into a few cars in the 7200 block of South State Street, and four or five people jumped out and started running.
A 21-year-old man was shot in the right hand and a 26-year-old man suffered an injury to his mouth, according to police News Affairs Officer Joshua Purkiss. It was not clear what car the injured people were riding in.
The two injured were taken to Saint Bernard Hospital in good condition, Purkiss said.
The incident occurred near Deneen Elementary School at 7240 S. Wabash, but the school was not involved, Purkiss said.
Area South detectives are investigating.
