Sunny Skies, Temperatures In Mid-80s For The Afternoon

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Skies will remain sunny Wednesday afternoon, as the temperature climbs into the 80s for the first time in six days.

CBS 2 Meteorologist Ed Curran says as of 11:20 a.m., it was 78 degrees at O'Hare International Airport, with humidity at 40 percent and fairly calm southwest winds at 9 mph. The temperature at the lakefront was 79 degrees, and at Midway International Airport 77 degrees.

As the afternoon unfolds, the temperature is expected to hit the mid-80s, with only a few high, wispy cirrus clouds that the sun will shine right through.

The official high for the day is 84, with a pleasant breeze from the south at 5-10 mph.

The low drops to 64 overnight under partly cloudy skies. On Thursday, the high hits 87 with more sunny skies as the high-pressure system remains.

The high on Friday is 88, and on Saturday 89 with storms late in the day. The high for Sunday is 88 with another chance of storms, Monday 83, and Tuesday back down to 79.
