Carpentersville Woman Killed In Rollover Crash On I-90

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (STMW) -- A southwest suburban Carpentersville woman was killed Saturday morning when the SUV she was driving struck a wall on the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway, then rolled over and ejected her.

The crash happened about 11:27 a.m. on eastbound I-90 at Roselle Road near northwest suburban Schaumburg, said an Illinois State Police Tollway District trooper.

Witnesses told State Police that for some unknown reason the Isuzu SUV swerved, hit a wall and then rolled over. At some point as the SUV was rolling over, the woman -- who was the only occupant -- was ejected.

Kathleen Steele, 51, of the 1900 block of South Prairie Path Lane in Carpentersville, was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:44 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

No one else was injured in the accident, and State Police continue to investigate what caused the crash.
