Missing Autistic Man From South Chicago Found

CHICAGO (CBS) -- UPDATE: Police said a severely autistic man who went missing from his South Chicago home Wednesday afternoon was found as of Thursday morning.

Tommy Williams, 29, was last seen at his home in the 8600 block of South Exchange Avenue about 4:30 p.m., according to a police alert.

Williams suffers from severe autism, the alert said. He is non-verbal and he may not know his name or be able to communicate with authorities.

He has been known to walk westbound, possibly on 87th Street, and make it as far as Harlem Avenue in west suburban Oak Park, the alert said.

Williams is described as a 5-foot-8, 135-pound black man with brown eyes, black hair and a light complexion, the alert said. He has a surgery scar on the left side of his forehead, and was last seen wearing a white T-shirt with gray jogging pants.
