Man Charged With Stabbing, Robbery Of Cab Driver In Park Ridge

PARK RIDGE (CBS) -- A North Side man has been arrested and charged with the stabbing and robbery of a cab driver in Park Ridge.

About 9:40 p.m. last Wednesday, Park Ridge police responded to the area of Elm and Winser, where a 42-year-old cab driver reported being stabbed and robbed by a passenger.

The suspect, Antonio C. Olivier, 23, had hailed the cab in the area of the 2000 block of West Birchwood in Chicago, then requested to be taken to O'Hare Airport, Park Ridge police said.

Olivier directed the driver into Park Ridge. While the cab was in motion, he stabbed the driver in the side of the head and the abdomen, while demanding that the victim give him his money, police said.

The suspect also threatened to kill the victim if he did not comply. Once the driver gave the man approximately $65, he fled the scene.

The driver suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Olivier, whose last known address is in the 7300 block of North Seeley Avenue, has been charged with armed robbery.

Additional charges are being reviewed, police said.
