2 Hospitalized After Fire Erupts At Senior-Citizen Facility
SKOKIE, Ill. (STMW) -- Two senior citizens were hospitalized after a fire erupted at an apartment building in north suburban Skokie early Sunday.
Firefighters received a call of a blaze at a senior-living facility located at 5140 Galitz St. about 1:30 a.m., said Skokie Fire Capt. Ron Moritz.
The fire began in an apartment on the top floor of the seven-story building, Moritz said.
A woman suffered some smoke inhalation, Moritz said, and another person became ill. Both were taken to a hospital, Moritz said. Their conditions and the name of the hospital where they were being treated were not immediately known.
Moritz said investigators were collecting details to help determine what caused the fire.
