Man Dies After Being Struck By Auto In Evanston
EVANSTON, Ill. (STMW) -- A 63-year-old man has died after he was struck by a vehicle while crossing a street in Evanston Saturday night.
At approximately 10:20 p.m. Saturday, Evanston police was notified by the Skokie police of a pedestrian struck by an auto at the intersection of Grant Street and Crawford Avenue, a release from Evanston police said.
The pedestrian, a 63-year-old man who was an Evanston resident, had been crossing Crawford Avenue at Grant Street when he was struck by the vehicle. The accident was not a hit-and-run, police said.
He was taken in critical condition by Skokie fire paramedics, who had also responded to the scene, to Evanston/North Shore University Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries at approximately 8:07 a.m. on Sunday, the release said.
Evanston police traffic re-constructionists are continuing to investigate the accident and as of early Sunday afternoon no citations or charges had been issued.
