Woman Dies After Being Pulled From Chicago River

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 42-year-old woman died after being pulled from the Chicago River on the North Side Sunday afternoon.

Emergency crews responded at 12:27 p.m. to the 3000 block of West Foster Avenue, police News Affairs Michael Sullivan said.

A witness saw a woman go into the water but did not see her resurface, Fire Media Affairs Chief Joe Roccasalva said.

The 42-year-old woman was taken in critical condition to Swedish Covenant Hospital. She was later pronounced dead at the hospital, according to Fire Media Affairs.

Police are conducting a death investigation.
