CHICAGO (CBS) — A man was critically wounded overnight after being stabbed in the Uptown neighborhood.

The man in his 20s was stabbed in the chest about 10 p.m. during an argument in the 4600 block of North Beacon Street, police said.

He was taken in critical condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, police said.

The man knew the person who stabbed him, police said.

This is at least the third major violent incident reported in Uptown over the past week. On Tuesday night, Uptown Update reported a shooting at Argyle Street and Sheridan Road, and displayed a photo of blood spattered on the sidewalk.

A witness said the victim was driving in multiple loops around a block bounded by Argyle Street, Sheridan Road, Ainslie Street and Winthrop Avenue, when a gunman opened fire and shot the victim several times. The victim was wounded in the leg and was reported in good condition, the witness said.

A woman whom the witness described as a bystander was grazed by a ricocheting bullet, the witness said in the Uptown Update account.

And this past weekend, hair salon owner Yolanda Holmes, 45, was shot and stabbed to death in her apartment in the Wilson Yard development, in the 1000 block of West Montrose Avenue, authorities said.

A man who had lacerations to his face was found outside the apartment, police said. He was taken in stable condition to Weiss Memorial Hospital.

Holmes was the owner of the Nappy Headz salon, at 4141 N. Broadway a few blocks south of her apartment, according to a Chicago Tribune report. She often used the salon to host community events such as back to school parties for neighborhood children and birthday parties for her staff, the Tribune reports.

No one was reported in custody in the incidents as of Thursday morning.
