CHICAGO (STMW) – Eight people were injured in a bus crash late Monday morning in the Gage Park neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

The accident between a bus and a vehicle occurred about 11:30 a.m. at East 54th Street and South Western Avenue, Fire Media Affairs Will Knight said.

All eight people were hospitalized in serious condition with non-life-threatening injuries, Knight said. Four people were taken to Saint Bernard Hospital and four others were taken to Holy Cross Hospital.

An EMS Plan 1, which sends at least five ambulances, was called for the crash.

The northbound No. 49 Western CTA bus has been rerouted around the accident. Southbound buses are not affected.
