Car With Missing Tire Blamed For Crash In Wicker Park

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Driving a car that was missing a tire might seem to defy common sense, but someone was doing just that in the Wicker Park neighborhood overnight – and police say it caused a nasty accident.

The crash happened around 12:30 a.m. in the 1600 block of West Division Street, police said.

The car with the missing tire was riding on the rim when its driver ran a red light and slammed into a taxi, police said.

The driver and the four passengers in the taxi were taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

They were taken to Stroger Hospital of Cook County and Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and were all initially reported in serious-to-critical condition, authorities said.
