CHICAGO (CBS) — Three people are in police custody, following a shootout with police in the North Center neighborhood.

Shots were fired just after 1 a.m. Tuesday at Barry Avenue and Leavitt Street – between the Roscoe Village neighborhood and the Lathrop Homes public housing development.

Police say three people shot at officers, who returned fire.

No one was hit, but three people were in custody as of 5 a.m. Tuesday.

The Chicago Tribune reports since August, police have reported about a dozen incidents in which officers either fired shots, or were fired upon.

Among them were two police shootings that happened within a period of hours last week, the Chicago Fraternal Order of Police tells the Tribune.
