By Jeff Joniak-

(WBBM) Finally! Peace and quiet around Halas Hall as the focus shifts to Sunday’s visit from the St. Louis.

It ends an awkward eight-day debate and focus on Bears quarterback Jay Cutler.  That’s a long time to invest in the outcome of one game…one in September…not in December or January.

When Lance Briggs and Brian Urlacher took the Halas Hall podium Thursday, 99 percent of the discussion was on football and the Rams.  The worst thing that could happen is allowing the Packers loss to linger and multiply into more losses.

With good health, typically the Bears don’t make it worse.

“Coach Smith makes us have the right attitude about it,” said Brian Urlacher. “It’s a work week for us. We got our butts kicked, we know that. Everyone in our division is 1-and-1 so that’s a good thing. We’re not too far behind anyone. It’s not as bad as you think it is, and it’s not as good as you think it is.”

There is no time to dwell on anything that happens week-to-week in the NFL. All it does is get you beat.

The Bears have enough to worry about from the Rams.  Quarterback Sam Bradford is healthy, accurate, and dangerous on third down.  If Steven Jackson negotiates a sore groin, he’s one of the best all-around backs in the league and chain moving receiver Danny Amendola is one of the best third down weapons in the league right now.

Defensively, the Rams have two legitimate pass rushers in Richard Quinn and Chris Long and a secondary that hits and plays aggressively.  Quinn lines up across of J’Marcus Webb, Long opposite Gabe Carimi.  And both Bears tackles will be challenged.

Long is pure high motor. Quinn is a more of a natural pass rusher. Both can ruin a Sunday.
