CHICAGO (CBS) — Chicago police shot a man who was threatening officers with a tire iron late Sunday night.

The shooting happened around 11:30 p.m. near Lockwood Avenue and Fulton Street in the Austin neighborhood.

Police were investigating reports of gunfire in the area, when a group of four men ran away from the scene.

As the officers pursued the suspects on foot, police union spokesman Pat Camden said one of the suspects jumped out from behind a bush and lunged at officers while waving a tire iron.

He was arrested and being treated at Mount Sinai Hospital for a non-life-threatening injury.
