CHICAGO (CBS) -- An autopsy has determined that two men found dead inside a truck earlier this week were beaten to death.

As WBBM Newsradio's Lisa Fielding reports, police around 10:10 a.m. Friday were called to the 2400 block of West 45th Street, when a woman found her boyfriend's car parked there.

She had reported him missing within the prior several days, and she had noticed blood on the hood of the 2000 Honda Accord, according to a Chicago Tribune report.

Police found the two bodies after they smelled a foul odor and opened the trunk, the Tribune reported. An autopsy determined that both men suffered blunt head trauma from an assault.

Sunday afternoon, the Cook County Medical Examiner's office identified the victims as 40-year-old Hector Castenda, of the 2000 block of South Leavitt STreet, and 39-year-old Porfiro Lopez, of the 1800 block of South 51st Street in Cicero.

A Chicago Police Department spokesman said an investigation is continuing, but as of Sunday afternoon, no one was in custody in connection with the murders.
