Man Approaches 9-Year-Old For Sex In Park

SCHAUMBURG (CBS) -- A 77-year-old man allegedly approached a 9-year-old girl for a sex act in a park Sunday in northwest suburban Schaumburg.

Officers responded at 2:46 p.m. Sunday to a report of a suspicious person approaching children in a part at Knollwood Drive and Pennview Lane, according to a release from Schaumburg police.

Paul R. Duke allegedly approached a 9-year-old girl in the park and offered her money to allow him to commit a sex act with her, police said.

The girl ran and told an adult family friend who accompanied her to the park, the release said. She was not physically touched or harmed.

Duke, 77, of the 2200 block of Pennview Lane, was arrested and charged with one felony count of indecent solicitation of a child, the release said.

Bond was set Monday at $50,000 at the Rolling Meadows courthouse. He is next scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 25.
