NHL Cancels Games Through Oct. 24

(CBS) Having already canceled the entire preseason, the NHL prolonged the lockout Thursday by canceling all regular season games through Oct. 24.

The move wipes out a total of 82 NHL games, including five Blackhawks games, three of which were scheduled home contests.

The NHL season was set to start Oct. 11 and it doesn't appear that the lockout will come to an end anytime soon as the two sides are not currently meeting.

The last time the NHL owners locked out the players, the entire 2004-05 season was canceled.
