CHICAGO (CBS) — A man was wounded in a shooting Tuesday morning in the Near North Side Gold Coast neighborhood.

The 41-year-old man was shot in the thigh about 5 a.m. in the 0-100 block of East Chestnut Street, police said.

He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital is an unidentified condition.

No one was in custody Tuesday morning.

The gunman approached the victim while he was walking towards his vehicle and shot him before fleeing on foot, police said.

The gunman is described as a black man in his 30s with a light complexion, between 5-feet-9 to 5-feet-10. He was last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt.
