Accused Of Child Porn, Man May Have Videotaped Neighbors

NAPERVILLE (CBS) -- Police in Naperville arrested a man they say was secretly videotaping neighbors as they undressed.

Renzo Barduagni was arrested yesterday -- after a four-month investigation.

Police say they searched his home in the 700 block of Violet Circle and found videos of neighbors taking their clothes off--as well as video of a naked child who lived nearby.

Neighbor Donna Bertolini said she was in shock when she saw Barduagni led away in handcuffs, arrested for viewing child pornography, and for secretly filming an underage neighbor as she emerged from her shower.

"At 6:30 in the morning, guns were drawn as they went into the house. They had a warrant to search the house," Bertolini said. "It was hard, because we made eye contact, and he just put his head down, and got into the squad car. It just looked like he was totally ashamed, which he should be more than ashamed."

Police went to Barduagni's home prepared for the worst, and found him planted in front of his computer.

Neighbor Al Karman said police have told local residents, "They found him sitting at his computer looking at pornographic images. He actually told the cops, for some reason – whether it's arrogance, or comfort or stupidity – that he made sure to purge images of anybody younger than six years old."

Karman said police also found at least 100 computer images of child pornography, and multiple long range telephoto lenses.

He said neighbors are fearful that the video peeping could have been going on for as long as 10 years.

"It's just a lot of bad feeling, really scared kids, is what we're seeing," Karman said.

Sunita Tandon said two her children had played in Barduagni's yard, so his arrest forced a difficult conversation.

"Have you ever been called by him inside. Has he called you in, or have you ever spoken to him, and they both said no," she said.

Bertolini's pool faces Barduagni's house. She said she doesn't know what to think, now that a neighbor who'd been to parties at her house has been arrested for peeping on underage children.

Barduagni was due back in court next month.
