A Visit To The 'Freak Farm' In Back Of The Yards
CHICAGO (CBS) -- On a typical Chicago block on the city's South Side, there's a house that's anything but typical.
Its owner has just been named Homesteader of the Year--by rural lifestyle magazine "GRIT."
Welcome to the so-called "freak farm."

"We were dubbed that mostly because I usually have a number of artists living here," said Tristan Beache.
In the Back of the Yards neighborhood, Beache offers a reporter a tour of his urban farm.
"We woke up one my my roosters, I guess," he says to a visitor.
Down the back stairs and into the yard, one can find roosters, ducks, hens, rabbits and crops.
For Beache, this is a lifestyle.
"I am trying to find ways to live in a more sustainable, low-impact way," he said.
By trade, Tristian is a sound engineer who teaches and tours with bands.
