ITASCA (CBS) — A man and woman arrested for robbing a northwest suburban home last Wednesday may be responsible for a string of home burglaries, according to police.
Jeffrey Roman, 24, and Jessica Jakatis, 26, both of Addison, were arrested Oct. 24 while leaving an Itasca home they were seen robbing about 4:15 p.m., according to Elmhurst police, who conducted a joint investigative operation with six other police agencies.
Roman and Jakatis were found with stolen property from the home, and charged with residential burglary, a release from Elmhurst police said.
For several days, the pair had been followed through several suburbs by police, the release said. Detectives are reviewing reported burglaries in surrounding suburbs to determine if Roman and Jakatis were involved.
The pair would allegedly knock on the door of a home and if someone answered, they would ask for directions. If no one answered, they forced entry through a rear door.
Roman is being held on a $15,000 bond at the DuPage County Jail. Bond information for Jakatis was not immediately available.
