Wife Faces Charges In Decade-Old Murder Case

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 61-year-old interior designer in Northwest Indiana is facing extradition back to Arizona, where she is accused of killing her husband a decade ago.

He was an artist: 71-year-old Brent Carpenter.

His wife Jane was 20 years younger.

They lived in Prescott, Ariz.

One morning in 2002, Jane Carpenter called police and said she found her husband on the floor of the kitchen "with a knife in his back and a head wound, apparently from a rock."

Police in Prescott say they kept track of Jane Carpenter through the years - and even visited with her a couple of years ago at her new home in Crown Point, Ind., where she was a designer and taught adult education classes in interior design at Indiana University Northwest.

Yesterday, she was arrested and charged with her husband's murder.
