(WSCR) Exactly 13 years ago today, the world lost one of the greatest football players to ever put on shoulders pads.
Walter Payton played 13 seasons in the NFL – all of which were for the Chicago Bears.
In 190 career games, Payton rushed for 16,726 yards on 3,838 carries with 110 touchdowns. He was a 9-time Pro Bowler and 5-time First-Team All-Pro.
Payton was inducted into the National Football League Hall of Fame in 1993
Walter Payton may be gone, but his memory certainly lives on.
