Report: Cubs Interested In Dan Haren

(WSCR) According to a report from CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman, the Cubs are interested in trading for Angels right-hander Dan Haren.

Haren has a $15.5 million option for 2013, with a $3.5 million buyout that is due today. It’s expected the 32-year-old will be moved by the end of the day, as the Angels appear focused on re-signing Zack Greinke.

Heyman reports the Cubs, who aren’t likely to content in 2013, are looking for veteran pitching to lead their staff.

This news comes one day after reports surfaced that the Cubs were in talks with Ryan Dempster’s agent.
